Amandla: The Liberation Heritage of Durban is a joint project of the National Heritage Council and the eThekwini Municipality which is managed by Durban Local History Museums. Part of a larger, continent-wide project, Amandla plots a route through Durban, linking physical spaces to the men, women and organisations who fought to secure the future of South Africa.

The project publishes regular articles on its website, to which members of the public can SUBSCRIBE. There are plans in place to erect wayfinder pylons at the various heritage sites. The information boards will offer a brief synopsis of each site, along with a link to the website that visitors can follow for further information.

If you’re interested in the political history of our country, then the  Amandla website is definitely well worth a visit! You can also follow the project via Twitter and Facebook.
